Wagga Gold Cup Friday 7th May 2021

 

Fashions on the Field in partnership with Kristopher Graydon Jewellers will be back at this year’s Wagga Gold Cup Day with a huge prize pool of over $16,000 to be won!

Entry will be via registrations desks located at Travers St and Slocum St entries, between 11am and 1pm. 

Our esteemed judging panel will be made up of fashion journalist Damien Woolnough, Get Racy owner & former Wagga Fashions on the Field Lady of the Day Viera Macikova and Kell Stoll, owner of Wagga boutique retail concept store and workshop space Ruby Tuesday

Registrations will be taken for the following categories: 

  • Kristopher Graydon Jewellers Lady Of The Day - Prize $4,100
  • Kristopher Graydon Jewellers Man Of The Day - Prize $3,160
  • Kristopher Graydon Jewellers Contemporary Award - Prize $3,850
  • Kristopher Graydon Jewellers Millinery Award - Prize $2,300
  • Kristopher Graydon Jewellers Stylish Couple - Prize $2,700

Please see below for a guideline of what our judges will be looking for at this year's Wagga Gold Cup! 

Best Dressed Lady

  • Judges will be looking for a standout race day outfit that references current Autumn fashion trends while showing off the entrant’s personal style. Both classic and contemporary styles are equally welcomed.
  • Millinery is essential and must be seasonally appropriate regardless of temperature on the day. Headwear should be made of leather, felt, wool, velvet, metal or any heavy material. No straw or sinamay.
  • Shoes should be closed toe.
  • Stockings and gloves are preferred but not essential.
  • Accessories should complement the outfit.
  • Grooming, make-up and deportment will also be considered as part of the judging process.

Best Dressed Gentleman

  • Judges will be looking for a standout race day outfit rather than a business look. It should reference current Autumn fashion trends while showing off the entrant’s personal style.
  • Gentlemen must wear pants and a jacket however it doesn’t have to be a suit. Trousers and chinos are appropriate. Jeans are not.
  • A hat is not essential for gentlemen but if they choose to wear one it must be made of a seasonally appropriate fabric such as wool, felt or leather.
  • A tie or bowtie is essential.
  • Accessories should complement the outfit.
  • Grooming and deportment will also be considered as part of the judging process.

Contemporary Award

  • Fashion forward is the key - with judges on the lookout for fashion with an edge.
  • Entrants must display a clever use of accessory co-ordination.
  • The hat must be of winter influence.

Millinery Award

  • Judges will be looking for statement millinery that complements the wearer’s outfit.
  • Millinery must be seasonally appropriate regardless of temperature on the day.
  • Headwear should be made of leather, felt, wool, velvet, metal or any heavy material. No straw or sinamay.

Stylish Couple

  • It takes two to tango and judges are looking for a couple whose styles are in sync. 
  • Their outfits must complement each other, with co-ordinated styling and colouring. 
  • The couple must be well groomed and show attention to detail.

JUDGES PROFILES

Damien Woolnough

Damien Woolnough is one of Australia’s leading fashion journalists, having worked for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire and The Australian Women’s Weekly. He was the fashion editor of The Australian and founding editor of vogue.com.au

Viera Macikova

Viera Macikova is the founder of Get Racy, an online racing fashion accessories store, which she started in 2014 to allow people in Australia and worldwide to have access to affordable and stylish millinery, handbags and other racing fashion accessories. Viera also took out the Wagga Gold Cup Lady of the Day title in 2019 and is looking forward to seeing the fashion at this year's carnival.

Kell Stoll

Kell is the visionary at the forefront of Ruby Tuesday boutique and concept store. Her dream was to design an event space for like-minded creatives to connect, create, share, and cultivate mindfulness through different forms of art including fashion.
