The first race day of the 2025 Wagga Gold Cup Carnival saw a great day of racing including four feature prelude races with winning horses exempt from the Tooheys Town Plate, Byrne Trailers Queen of the South, JRC Electrical Services MTC Guineas and the long-awaited Wagga RSL Wagga Gold Cup.
The Murrumbidgee Cup Open Heat of the Stayer Series saw Helluva Soiree secure its golden ticket into the Wagga RSL Wagga Gold Cup ridden beautifully by Claire Ramsbotham for trainer Luke Pepper.
I Am Lethal took home the win in the Kooringal Stud Town Plate Prelude, ridden by Louise Day and trained by the Kembla Grange trainer Mitch Beer securing its position into the Tooheys Town Plate on Thursday May 1.
Jockey Blaike McDougall rose Dupli Kate to the finish line in the Sandbar Guineas Prelude securing the Norm Gardner trained filly exempt from the MTC Guineas on Friday May 2.
Asgarda The Queen of the South Prelude saw Bon Holler take out the win with Thurgoona trainer Donna Scott ridden by Blaide McDougall securing its place in the filly and mare race on Friday May 2.
